Is College Park a Purple City?

College Park Patch, making sure you're dressed appropriately for the Ravens weekend.

Until this season, I never paid much attention to football.

I enjoyed watching my college teams at Bloomsburg University and the University of Maryland, and watching the Super Bowl with my family and friends. There is even a photo floating around out there of me in a black and gold jersey, pretending to fit in with my Steelers-loving family.

But it wasn't until this past fall that I made a date with my T.V. every Sunday, as I became a little more obsessed each week with Ray Rice, Terrell Suggs and University of Maryland graduate Torrey Smith.

I had the pleasure of actually going to a game in Baltimore to watch the Ravens trounce the Colts, and I am even the proud owner of a #82 jersey.

(I'm not sure what has my family more upset—That I have become this Ravens fan, or that their Steelers got Tebowed last week.)

Needless to say, I'll be donning my purple today, and I'm writing to make sure you all are as well. Add a photo of yourself in your purple to the gallery. Prove that College Park is a Ravens city, not Redskins (regardless of what you saw outside Town Hall last year).

Editor's Note: This column is all in good fun. I do not wish to actually pick a fight with a Redskins fan, or become disowned by my family.

I live in College Park and work near BWI, so I already have to see all the Raven's jerseys when I go into work... please don't make me have to deal with more Raven's fans here in Redskin's territory!

I love the Ravens and hope they win big this weekend. There are a lot of Ravens fans in CP and there will be a lot of Purple in town this weekend. But College Park has always and will always be a Redskins town. Hail

Anyplace south of Columbia should be Skins territory. Washington might stink right now but at least we didn't have to steal a team from Cleveland. :)
