POLL: Are You Still Following Your New Year's Resolution?

A month in, are you still going strong with the promise you made to yourself for 2012?

As is with every December, there was a lot of talk about New Year's Resolutions a month ago.

Laura Moore told Greenbelt Patch she wouldn't bring in any more pets. (Three cats and a dog are enough, she said.) Hyattsville Mom Columnist Jessica Wilson resolved to manage her time better, exercise more and eat heathier, but not at the cost of quality time with family or self. Kim Stephenson told College Park Patch that she vowed to snack better in 2012.

So how are we all doing, one month into the year? Take the Patch Poll and share whether or not your 2012 resolution has been successful so far.

I made an honest push to try and quit smoking using an e-cigarette after the new year. Worked well, cut my tobacco use down to nothing. Then the dang $75 thing broke beyond repair two weeks into the year, and my will power followed shortly thereafter.

The whole "eating better" thing is easier said than done. It seems everywhere you go there are snacks or buffets or pizzas. It doesn't matter if it's the workplace (those muffins and pastries in the corner next to the coffee) or a gathering at a friend's house or dinner out with friends. Food. Food. Food.

I know what you mean. I feel like I need to pack my own snack wherever I go if I want to be serious about eating healthy.

I haven't written one word of my novel. Perhaps I should title it, "The Sound of Silence."

Well one new word that is. I started it several years back.

My new year's resolution was to take better care of myself and find a better work/life balance. So far, I've tried a new diet which has given more energy and I've started using Workflowly.com to help me better organize my brain. So, I feel like I'm making progress!

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION??? WHAT New Year? It looks like the same ole to me. Everyone I know, seems to be too busy struggling with all kinds of problems these days to focus on changing one aspect of one's life. As for myself, some people have one of those days, but it seems that I have one of those lives <SIGH> Anyway, as a social scientist and international consultant, I find that the world we live in these days, and especially our own here in the US, has become so complicated and overwhelming on so many levels that it makes it difficult to focus on changing one small aspect of one's life. But, hey! If you can do it, go for it! You must be in better shape, mind, and spirit than I am these days ; - )
