Mikulski Named Senate Appropriations Chair
Cardin sees the move as a step forward for the committee.
U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) will now head up the Senate committee that oversees all discretionary spending legislation.
The committee is one of the more powerful of Senate and the chairperson has the final say on what spending bills will see themselves on the Senate floor.
“This is great news for my friend and colleague Barbara Mikulski, and tremendous news for Maryland. Senator Barb has been shattering glass ceilings her entire career and all Marylanders are proud of her as she prepares to lead the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee," U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) said.
"As our nation’s fragile recovery continues to pick up steam, Chairman Mikulski will help ensure that we find a path forward that keeps the federal government invested in job-creating, growth-friendly projects and programs. I have no doubt that she will be a responsible steward of the federal checkbook on behalf of Marylanders and all taxpayers.”

Since she has always been a compassionate, but responsible steward, I have no doubt she will continue to represent me well. All the best to a politician whom I have long admired for her courage.

Hopefully this can lead to more funding for NASA. Mikulski was instrumental in getting funding for Hubble when it had the mirror problems.

What an awful development for taxpayers of our completely bankrupt country. Miksul-ski doesn't represent me and never will. I want my senator to be dignified and not be partisan about every little thing. What are her major accomplishments? Helping Martin O'Malley get elected? Spending us into oblivion?
When this thing hits the fan, I want all of you liberal collectivists to go to Mikulski's mansion and ask her for a few loaves of bread. Maybe you'll get a crumb.

I am still waiting for I-70, I-83, I-795 to be finished and I-170 to be built...oh wait...thanks Barb...now all traffic moves away from the center city leaving Baltimore as a non-hub for regional transportation, leaving this port city to have little strategical importance. Barbra is one of the people who needs to have an entire chapter written about her in a book detailing Baltimore’s blight.
