Plea Deal Expected From Man Charged in College Park Murder

Deandre Ricardo Williams, who is charged in the shooting murder of University of Maryland student Justin DeSha-Overcash, will appear in court for a plea hearing Friday.

The man charged in the January 2011 fatal shooting of a University of Maryland student is scheduled to appear in court for a plea hearing Friday afternoon.

Deandre Ricardo Williams, 24, of Hyattsville, faces eight charges, including first-degree murder and robbery, related to the death of Justin DeSha-Overcash.

The State's Attorney's Office believes Wiliams will enter a plea for the first-degree murder charge, The Washington Times reported.

Police believe Williams and Stephan Weaver, 23, of Bowie, intended to rob DeSha-Overcash of money and drugs at his College Park home on Jan. 11, 2011. Weaver drove himself and Williams to DeSha-Overcash's College Park home and waited in the car as Williams went inside, police have said.

Weaver pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and related charges and is awaiting sentencing, The Washington Post reported.

DeSha-Overcash was a senior studying astronomy and physics at the University of Maryland after graduating in 2006 from Central Bucks High School South in Warrington, Pa.

The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday in Upper Marlboro.

Might as well give the guy a plea deal then to actually do your job. Our criminal justice system is a joke. I understand why we do plea deals, but look at balt. You get to the point where instead of going to trial all you want to do is to negotiate the plea deal. Thats not justice.
