Looney's Pub Expects to Open by Mid-September

The co-owners of Looney's Pub hope to open the doors at 8150 Baltimore Ave. by mid-September.

At Wednesday's Mayor and Council work session, Steve Litrenta and William Larney Jr. shared details of the sports bar and restaurant, which will offer live entertainment, happy hours and end-of-the-night shuttle bus transportation.

The establishment, located in the new student housing complex, The Varsity, has applied for a beer, wine and liquor license and will go before the county's Board of License Commissioners on Aug. 23.

"We’re more of a restaurant theme than anything," Litrenta told the council.

This is the fourth Looney's Pub that is opening. The first three are at Canton, Bel Air and Fulton.

According to the property use agreement, here is what College Park can expect from Looney's Pub:

• karaoke and trivia after football games on Sunday and Monday;
• live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Expect cover charges to get in on those nights;
• DJs on Wednesdays;
• adjacent patio where alcohol can be served (in addition to inside the pub);
• a minimum of $2 for alcoholic beverages, and no less than $9 for pitchers of beer;
• happy hour between 2 and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, during which there will be specials for select appetizers, beer, wine, mixed drinks, crushers and a wing and pitcher combo. Happy hour might also take place durning Saturday and Sunday brunch;
• regular menu items will be sold until 1 a.m., at which point appetizers and pizza will be available in addition to alcohol;
• Looney's will open at 11 a.m. everyday. Sunday through Thursday it'll close at 2 a.m., and Friday and Saturday it'll close at 3 a.m.
• shuttle service at least on weekend nights to drive patrons who need a ride home; route is yet to be determined.
