Leslie Johnson Charged With Conspiracy

The District 6 Councilwoman had filed a motion to have her preliminary hearing delayed until next month.

District 6 County Councilwoman Leslie E. Johnson was formally charged with conspiracy today, after a federal wiretap caught her destroying a $100,000 check from a developer last fall.

Leslie Johnson, the wife of former county executive Jack B. Johnson, was also caught trying to stuff more than $79,000 in her bra and underwear as federal agents arrived at their home.

The councilwoman was charged with conspiracy to commit witness and evidence tampering, according to published reports. Jack Johnson has been indicted on extortion and bribery charges.

Leslie Johnson faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of conspiracy.

If either one of them go to jail I'll eat my hat.

Personally, I hope you will be eating your hat (ha ha). I hope that if she does a plea it does not include her keeping her council seat.

I heard tonight that the feds have evidence that Jack Johnson had secured five members of the county council for his criminal enterprise. Five! It will be interesting to find out who they are, and if the feds will be successful in removing them from office. I'll forgive them after they have paid their debt to society, and asked forgiveness, not while they are still triffiling with my tax money. It sure would be nice to have representatives who bring honor to the office, and appreciate the trust the taxpayers have put in them.

The residents of this county should be in an uproar that Lady Bra hasn't been forced to step down yet. Jack inadvertently threw his own wife under the bus.....

From Tuesday's transcripts:
Jack to Baig:

"What I'm tryin' to do is get Leslie over zoning, 'cause zoning is huge..." Johnson told developer Dr. Mirza Baig in a wiretapped conversation. ".... And then what we're gonna do is work together so you shouldn't have any problems," Johnson continued.
