If you're looking for a new way to get a little exercise or recreation this summer, know that the deadline to get early bird rates for membership registration at the College Park Woods Pool is right around the corner.

Members can use the pool during all open swim hours and attend social events, according to the pool's website. Early bird rates include free guest passes. Check here for more info.

Other noteworthy deadlines for this week:

• Good Neighbor Day is Saturday. Campus and community residents will volunteer to clean up Lake Artemesia. Registration is encouraged. Learn more here.
• It's just about election season. Early voting opens Saturday and runs until Thursday. Early voting centers will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. One of the centers is nearby at the College Park Community Center. The absentee ballot deadline is Tuesday. • The deadline to enter the Maryland Municipal League's 2012 “If I were Mayor, I would…” essay contest is Friday. The statewide contest is open to all fourth graders. The winners will be recognized by Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown, receive a Governor’s Citation, an award plaque and $100 cash in a public ceremony on Friday, May 20, at the Maryland State House.
