Greenbelt Man Charged in UMd. Theft

Student's property stolen while left unattended at Cole Field House.

A Greenbelt man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly taking a University of Maryland student's wallet, cell phone and other personal property, according to police.

Michael Lee, 50, is charged with theft under $1,000 and trespassing on school grounds, police report.

According to a University of Maryland news release:

The victim left his belongings unattended while playing soccer at Cole Field House. He noticed a man near his belongings, and later realized they were missing.

After the victim reported his missing property, police found that the stolen credit cards were used at a Brentwood gas station. Brentwood Police tracked down Lee, who had the student's property in his possession.

Lee is currently being held on $2,000 bond at the Prince George’s County Detention Center.
