Fugitive Fridays: PGPD Seek Chillum Man Accidentally Released From Jail
Frederick L. Scott was mistakenly given a $75,000 bond and released from jail while awaiting a murder trial.
Prince George's County Police seeking help locating a fugitive who was mistakenly released from jail while awaiting trial.
- Wanted For: Murder
- In Connection With: The shooting death of Phillip Watson March 4 outside the Surf Club in Edmonston.
- Description: Frederick L. Scott is a black male, 5’7” tall, about 155 pounds.
- Details: About 1:04 a.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Kenilworth Avenue for a report of a shooting and found Phillip Watson, 30, of the 4300 block of Varnum Place, S.E., Washington, D.C., suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Through the course of their investigation, detectives identified Scott, 24, of the 1900 block of Oliver Street in Chillum, as a suspect in this case, and obtained a first-degree murder warrant for him.
Police arrested him on May 5 in Las Vegas and he was extradited to Prince George’s County. Initially, Scott was remanded to county jail on a no bond status.
Due to what appears to be a clerical error, Scott was later given a $75,000 bond and released from jail after the bond was posted. Upon realizing its error, the court issued a bench warrant for Scott on Nov. 18.

Just curious about why there's no picture of the fugitive here ... ??? Seems to me it would be helpful

Charlotte, I think you're on to something here. There could be a logical connection between the "accidental release" of the fugitive and the accidental non-release of a photo critical to finding the chap. Suggests neither is much of an accident.

whoever is responsible for ths clerical error should be FIRED. There is no place for a person that makes clerical errors that allow a suspected murderer to go free. Of course, considering this is the same county that gave us the corrupt Jack Johnson administration and that says a lot. I do, indeed, want to see the person responsible for this 'error' fired. Of course, that won't happen, because it is, after all, PG county, where we are accustomed to badly run and incompetent politicions.

The person that released him should go to jail in his place until he's caught. Bet if this were a law it would never happen again!

Brilliant idea, Ed! You must be quite the administrator. Given your obvious mastery of the English language, I'm quite sure you never make clerical errors.
