Four UMd. Swimmers Transfer to Penn State

Nearing the June 30 deadline for fundraising, four of the University of Maryland's swimmers leave the school.

Penn State University's Swim Coach John Hargis is adding five more swimmers to his roster— including four former swimmers from the University of Maryland.

According to a blog— Swim Swam— this could shake up the Terrapins' upcoming season. Assistant Coach Matt Emmett is leaving the team as well.

Peter Fittin, John Hauser, Kyle Madley, and Ryan Magee are the four leaving UMd. for Penn State along with another Virginia transfer, Tim Maurer.

Hauser was the most valuable player last year finishing 8th at the ACC Championships in the 200 freestyle, according to the blog.

The swim team has until June 30 to raise $2.8 million dollars to save its program.

Do you think the swim team and other UMd. teams on the brink of being cut will be able to raise funds in enough time? Have you donated to any teams?
