City Council to Discuss Rent Stabilization at Tuesday's Meeting
Educational grants, Action Plan also on the agenda.
College Park City Council plans to discuss the debated rent stabilization ordinance at Tuesday’s meeting, continuing the discussion on how much landlords can charge residents in rent.
The motion—introduced by Councilmember Stephanie Stullich (Dist. 3) for Tuesday's meeting—includes a discussion on establishing a rent ceiling in the city, an ordinance that is set to be enforced until Sept. 1, 2017.
College Park will hold an additional public hearing on the ordinance on July 9.
City council will meet at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall’s council chambers. Parking passes are available for attendees on the first floor.
In addition to the rent stabilization laws, the following could be discussed at Tuesday’s meeting:
- Approval of $60,000 from the fiscal year 2013 budget to be allotted for public school education grants. City council will also discuss how to clarify the application process for grant awards.
- City council may adopt the fiscal year 2013 Action Plan for the 2010-2015 City of College Park Strategic Plan, a master plan outlining the goals of the city, and a plan of action. The 2013 Action Plan includes initiatives like improving public safety and upping recreational and social activities for residents.
- Approval of a $497,550 contract to NZI Construction for a concrete maintenance and asphalt resurfacing project.
