Byrd Stadium Saw Lowest Fan Turnout Since 2000

Edsall, team disappointed in fair-weather fans.

While the men's soccer team has seen a major influx in the number of spectators this season, the Terrapin football team saw the most bare stadium seats last weekend since 2000.

An 11-year low of 29,945 fans watched from Byrd Stadium as Maryland lost to Boston College 28-17,  MSN FoxSports.com reported. The Terps are now 2-6 for the season.

The Terps have one last home game on Saturday versus Virginia. The weather forecast is currently sunny with a high near 53 degrees -- a drastic change from the cold and snow that hit Byrd Stadium last weekend.

But should that make a difference? Coach Randy Edsall and the players told FoxSports that there's no excuse for a fair-weather fan.

Are you admittedly (and unashamedly) a fair-weather fan? Tell us in the comments.

If you put a winning team on the field you might put fans in the stadium. Why would I sit in that weather and watch such a poor performance? The coach and team lost me at the Temple game, a complete lack of affort from both the coach and the team. And a side bar the first game of the year against Miami the player carying the American Flag on the field #53 just through the flag on the ground to jump into the stands very disrepectful.
